Birth of Jan Anthoniszoon van Riebeeck in Culemborg, Netherlands. Van Riebeeck would land at Table Bay on 6 april 1652 to found a settlement for the Vereenighde Oostindische g'octrooijeerde Compangie (VOC, Dutch East India Company).

1859, 21 April
David Livingstone arrives at Cape Town on the start of his expedition through the interior of Africa.

1956, 21 April
A military pact between Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Yemen is finalised.

1994, 21 April
First reports of Rwandan genocide are starting to appear.
