In addition to the Congress of the People contesting next year's election in South Africa, a new party representing the San was launched in Upington, Northern Cape, on Saturday 20 December (according to the South African Broadcasting Corporation). The Khoisan Aboriginal and Others Movement, under the leadership of Rodney January, will act for the 'empowerment of the San people, and to provide them with free water, electricity, and health care.'
