Sierra Leone's Special Court

Tuesday March 9, 2004
The Government of Sierra Leone and the United Nations have established a special course in order to try those individuals "who bear the greatest responsibility for serious violations of international humanitarian law and Sierra Leonean law committed in the territory of Sierra Leone since 30 November 1996" as well as "any transgressions by peacekeepers and related personnel ... pursuant to the Status of Mission Agreement". The website doesn't have a great deal of information on it yet, but as cases get underway it'll bear watching.
• Go to Special Court for Sierra Leone website
• Read the Statue of the Special Court
Report of the UN Secretary General on the establishment of the court
