Chinese Labourers arrive in South Africa for the first time.

1913, 19 June
Black (or Natives) Land Act (No. 27 of 1913) commences - under the act Black Africans are no longer be able to own or even rent land outside of designated reserves (which amount to approximately 7% of South Africa's land).

1942, 19 June - World War II: North Africa
British forces withdraw to the Egyptian border, Tobruk is now isolated.

1959, 19 June
Rioters in the Kato Manor shanty town, Durban, are shot at by South African police.
