All French colonies in Africa are designated as enemy territory by Britain, ports may be placed under naval blockade.

1953, 30 July
British MPs are debating a treaty with Libya which exchanges aid for military bases.

1957, 30 July
Nigeria is given autonomy by Britain.

1981, 30 July
Gambian President Dawda Kairaba Jawara is temproarilly deposed by National Revolutionary Council chairman Kukli Samba Sanyang for 6 days, whilst in London for the Royal Wedding.
