League of Nations gives Egyptian mandate to Britain. Egypt remains a British Protectorate until the Anglo-Egyptian treaty is signed on 26 August 1936.

1977, 24 July
Muhammad Anwar al-Sadat, president of the Arab Republic of Egypt, announces an immediate cease-fire along the border with Libya.

1986, 24 July
President Kenneth David Kaunda accuses the British government of "kissing Apartheid".
