Where Do You Find Hieroglyphs - False Doors

Hieroglyphs might also be carved into stone, as in this example of a limestone architrave from the false door of Ptahshepses, last king of the 5th Dynasty, from his tomb at Saqqara, c.2450 BCE. False doors were a form of stele which developed by the 3rd Dynasty from earlier tomb slabs – they were symbolic doors between the world of the living and the afterlife through which the Ka of the dead could pass back and forth.
