Beautifully coloured hieroglyphic texts often accompanied murals painted on the walls of tombs and temples. This example is from a painted relief showing an expedition by Ramesses II and the presentation to the Pharaoh of produce of Nubia, from the temple of Ramesses II at Beit el-Wali, in Lower Nubia, 19th Dynasty, c. 1250 BCE.
