1977, 2 August
Ethiopia requests the Organisation of African Unity, AOU, to stop Somali intervention in the Ogaden.

1983, 2 August
Libyan air force attacks Faya-Largeau in Chad. Libya's Colonel Gaddafi has sent his Islamic Legion into Northern Chad following an extended Civil War between the factions under Goukouni Oueddei and Hissen Habre.
