This Day in African History — Congo-Brazzaville Achieves Independence

The region now known as Congo-Brazzaville was annexed by the French in the 1880's when two kingdoms (Teke and Loango) were incorporated into the Moyen Congo (Middle Congo), part of French Equatorial Africa.
