African Members of the Commonwealth of Nations
There are 18 African countries who are members of the Commonwealth of Nations. (Zimbabwe decided to leave in 2003.) All but two were British colonies or dominions. Cameroon was partially British (following World War I) and Mozambique was allowed to join as a special case following democratic elections in 1994.
