Despite all the talk about how genocide such as happened in Rwanda must never be allowed to happen again, it is, in the Dufar region of Sudan and in northern Uganda. Speaking at the 12th anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide, Juan Mendez, the UN special adviser on prevention of genocide said governments "have gotten better at nurturing peace processes, but are still reluctant to do much more ... 'Let somebody else do it' is still very much in place." This even though the United Nations, whose complicity in Rwanda was shameful, labelled what's happening in Dafur as the "world's worst humanitarian disaster".
