Traditional Dress in Today's Society

Does traditional dress have a place in today's urbanized society? Two Zimbabwean brothers who ventured into a shopping mall in Harare wearing just a nhembe (a traditional goatskin loincloth) have been charged with indecent exposure, reports The Star newspaper. One of them is quoted as saying: "We do not care what people say or think about us because we regard them as colonized ... Why do they laugh at someone wearing nhembe, yet their ancestors wore nhembe before they were colonized?" You do have to wonder, though, if they've considered what their ancestors would think about shopping in malls...? Read news report....
