New Malaria Drugs Lose Potency

The fight against malaria has had a setback as resistance is developing to artemisinin drugs, reports the Guardian Unlimited. The drugs, made from plants growing in China, had been hailed as a life-saver and recommended for malaria treatment by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The instances of resistance seem to occur only where the drugs are being used without control and for self-treatment. Read more...
