Southern African Annual Sardine Run

Wednesday July 14, 2004
Every year in June and July huge shoals of sardines appear along the east coast of Southern Africa in an event known as the 'Sardine Run'. The fish are followed by thousands of predators such as dolphins and sharks. It's a phenomenon fishers, divers, and photographers should all see at least once.
• Where are the sardines at the moment? Phone the Natal Sharks Board hotline on 082-284 9495 (from within South Africa).
• View underwater photos of sardine run from the Sardine Run Association.
• View map of Sardine Run from BBC Online.
